The Centre of Islamic Calligraphy and Arts Studies of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (PPKKI-YSHHB) will organise the Brunei Darussalam International Islamic Calligraphy Festival (BDIICF 2024) for the first time in October.

The event, slated from October 15 to 17 will be held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.

The event is the first project managed collaboratively by Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) through PPKKI-YSHHB together with several other institutions – Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) of Turkiye; Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif (UNISSA) and Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).

A cooperation agreement between the institutions was signed yesterday online with IRCICA and physically with UNISSA and KUPU SB at Rumah Semaun, near the capital.

Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, as a member of the Board of Directors of Yayasan, Chairman of the Governing Board of PPKKI-YSHHB and as a Co-Advisor to the Supreme Committee BDIICF 2024 was present.

Ambassador of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam Professor Dr Hamit Ersoy also participated.

Signing on behalf of Yayasan was Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use, and Environment) of the Ministry of Development Dr Nor Imtihan binti Haji Abdul Razak, as the Acting Managing Director of the Yayasan and also as Co-Chairperson of the Supreme Committee of the BDIICF 2024.

Meanwhile, signing on behalf of IRCICA virtually was the Director General of IRCICA Professor Dr Mahmut Erol Kilic.

Signing on behalf of UNISSA was Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, as Co-Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the BDIICF 2024. Signing on behalf of KUPU SB was Ra’es Associate Professor Dr Haji Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, as Co-Chairman of the Supreme Committee of the BDIICF 2024. – Azlan Othman
